Little Mountain Homeopathy Client Testimonial
I started seeing Sonya at Little Mountain Homeopathy in July 2014 in hopes of getting my Ulcerative Colitis towards remission. I had made dramatic changes to my diet and lifestyle in the past year to manage my symptoms but still found that something was missing. Sonya found the correct remedy for me right away to help address the emotional aspect of my condition. I was surprised to experience very strong emotional release from the remedy. I am at 2 months on the remedy now and for the first time feel that remission is certainly a possibility, whereas before it was just wishful thinking. I would recommend Sonya to anyone who is serious about holistic healing through the homeopathic approach.

Irritable bowel syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion, meaning that, much like chronic fatigue syndrome, it is diagnosed by ruling out any other sort of disorder. Clients with irritable bowel respond well and have a very good chance of recovery with homeopathy, if there is commitment and persistence.
Symptoms of irritable bowel include abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating, diarrhea and/or constipation. All these symptoms can be dealt with effectively by a professional homeopath.
Ulcerative colitis, on the other hand, is a more serious disorder. It is characterized by inflammation of the colon and rectum along as well as open sores in the colon. People with this disorder suffer from bloody diarrhea.
Symptoms of ulcerative colitis can be controlled and managed with homeopathy. In some cases, homeopathy may have to be used along with standard pharmaceutical medications.
Studies Prove the Effectiveness of Homeopathy for Managing Ulcerative Colitis and Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Maas HPJA. “Ulcerative Colitis treated with Homoeopathy” British Homoeopathic Journal, July 1993, 82, 179-185.
In this retrospective case analysis, 24 people suffering from ulcerative colitis were treated in an Argentinian clinic using constitutional homoeopathy over periods of up to 19 years. Of these 24, 16 patients were assessed as having good outcomes.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is one of the most common inflammatory bowel diseases. As in most of the cases, the exact cause is unknown. Homoeopathy, however, provides a better response in such conditions, one such case report is presented. Patient attended out patient department (OPD) chiefly for complaints of frequent passage of bloody stool and abdominal pain. He was suffering from idiopathic UC for the past 10 years. After unsatisfactory outcome with modern medicine, patient turned to homoeopathic treatment. After detailed case-taking and repertorization, Hydrastis was given in low potency, and gradually, the potency was raised as per the response of the medicine upon patient. Within 3–4 months of homoeopathic treatment, the patient started improving and continues to be free from his complaints at the time of last follow-up visit in OPD.
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic condition for which there is no consensus on the optimum treatment. Gastroenterology problems are some of the most common conditions treated by homeopaths, yet few trials have explored the effectiveness of individualised homeopathic treatment for IBS. A three-armed trial was conducted which compared: usual care, homeopathic treatment plus usual care and supportive listening plus usual care. The primary outcome was change in irritable bowel symptom severity score between baseline and 26 weeks, calculated using ANCOVA. An interim ANCOVA adjusted for baseline IBS severity, age and employment status found no statistically significant difference between the three arms. However, a post-hoc test comparing homeopathic treatment plus usual care to usual care alone found a statistically significant difference in favour of homeopathic treatment. In addition, 62.5 percent of patients in the homeopathic treatment arm (compared to 25.0 percent of those in the usual care arm), achieved a clinically relevant change in irritable bowel symptom severity score, which indicates a promising effect for homeopathic treatment, though these results should be interpreted with caution due to the low number of participants in the study.
The effect of Asa foetida (0.1% alcoholic dilution) and a combination of Asa foetida and Nux vomica (0.01% alcoholic dilution) was tested in a multicenter placebo-controlled double-blind trial. Both groups with active medication differed trivially but showed a marked superiority to the placebo group.
In a double-blind trial of two groups of 50 patients each with irritable colon (of whom 91 could be evaluated) asa foetida was found to be effective at the 1% significance level.
